From the President…

This year has seen strong growth for the Worsley Institute as we work to bring the benefits of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture to more patients and practitioners.

To summarize a few of the highlights:

  • We have retained a consultant, David Matteson, who has been instrumental in helping us clarify our goals, set our strategy and priorities, and establish the best organizational structure and teamwork for accomplishing them.

  • Judy Worsley has agreed to be our Chair of Education, overseeing all of the Institute’s educational offerings.

  • We have established an Advisory Board consisting of respected community leaders and professionals who have helped us in many ways, who share our ideals and are willing to guide our progress.

  • The Institute has established Project Teams, including Growth and Development, Continuing Education, Video Project, Newsletter, Website, Administration, Marketing, Political Watch, Community Outreach, Writing and Speaking Teams to share the joy and satisfaction of making our work available.

  • The Worsley Institute now has an official presence in Europe, led by Max Alexander.

  • We are developing a Pathway to Mastery, a comprehensive continuing education curriculum, with multiple entry points for new students, recent graduates and seasoned practitioners alike.

  • In cooperation with Judy Worsley, Hilary Skellon and a team of senior teachers, the Institute sponsored a six-day Basic Teacher Training, and is developing a Basic Teacher Certification program.

  • Johanna Alper, Suzanne Burnell and our Continuing Education Team are preparing for our April 2007 two-day Open Clinical Seminar, which will be presented in Boulder, Colorado.

  • The Institute’s Video Team has begun production of educational DVDs. In England, Henry Bizon has produced several DVD's of JR Worsley teaching at the College of Traditional Acupuncture (CTA) in Leamington Spa, England. The Seattle branch has produced four DVDs based on JR and Judy Worsley teaching and conducting Patient Consultations. A comprehensive library of the teachings of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture is in the works.

  • Our Web site Team, led by April Hulvershorn in cooperation with Sean O'Dwyer, has upgraded our WorsleyInstitute.org website to show Judy Worsley's itinerary for consults and seminars and all educational offerings related to the Institute. You can now buy all of our books, videos and related products online via credit card.

  • We are preparing our new Online Newsletter. The Institute’s on-line newsletter team is headed by Tom Kirby. Many thanks for his inspiration and perserverance.

  • The Administration Team, led by Adrienne Carlee and Frances Korbly-Canter, has established a database. The Institute can now provide a "Practitioner List" of those practitioners who continue their development via our continuing educational offerings. We are preparing a "Certified Basic Teacher Register", consisting of those who have completed Basic Teacher Training and met our ongoing continuing education requirements.
