Video Project Update

8/15/2006: UNITED KINGDOM - Henry Bizon, our UK video expert, is editing and producing, on DVD, the videotapes of JR Worsley teaching at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in the 1980's and early 90s.

These were filmed originally by Dean Lander, using broadcast quality equipment. Now, with Henry's meticulous attention to detail, they are becoming DVDs of excellent quality.

This project has had to overcome many technological hurdles, from locating, purchasing and refurbishing equipment, to waiting for the necessary digital technology to develop.

Henry is nearing completion of the first three DVD's on the following topics:

  • Causative Factor
  • Introduction to the Five Elements (Shen Cycle, Ko Cycle & Yin/Yang Organs)
  • Uniqueness of the Individual
  • Levels of Disease (Body/Mind/Spirit)
  • Concept of Health & Sickness
  • Stress & Illness

The UK archival tapes include over 300 hours of JR lectures. Henry is selecting and producing the very best of these. At last we are on the way to making them available.

SEATTLE — With the support of Judy Worsley and the Worsley Institute, a "crack" team of technology savvy acupuncturists (Eric Hartmann, David Goodell, Chris Dapper and Carl Dahlgren) has completed its first phase of computer video editing training. Under the guidance of David Putnam, an expert and pioneer in this field, the team is using a state-of-the-art Apple G5 and Final Cut Pro software. David Putnam, one of the most respected trainers on the subject, has taken a personal interest in the success of our project.

Chris Dapper has generously dedicated a room in his house for the use of the Video Team, providing a "home base" for the project. All the computer and editing equipment is there in one place, accessible to the whole team.

Already produced is our first offering, Introduction to Rapport: Part I. We expect to complete the following by the end of October, 2005:

  • Introduction to Rapport: Part II - Beyond rapport, into diagnostic interplay with the patient
  • Introduction to Clinical Practice - JR and Judy introducing clinical practice to first year students
  • Patient Consultation Series: Seminar Format - feedback and discussion of selected patients from Open Clinical Seminars
  • Updated Fundamentals of Treatment Planning

We are very proud of the work that has been done so far. Many further additions to the library will follow.

It is a great joy to see this project coming to fruition. Patients and students, as well as current and future practitioners, will benefit from having access to the wisdom and expertise of JR and Judy for years to come, as the practice of CFEA expands in the world.
