Practitioners Invited for Admission to the Master Apprentice Program (MAP)8/15/2006 by Neil Gumenick: Begun in 1997 by Professor JR Worsley, the Master Apprentice Program (MAP) is the highest level of training in the Classical Five-Element Acupuncture lineage. MAP is based on the ancient lineage model: preserving and carrying forward a system of healing that includes a body of knowledge, a philosophy, and a way of being. In J.R.’s words, “The benefits and goals of this program are that you will be working towards an official Certification from me. This will certify that you are a designated Apprentice or Master Apprentice in the lineage of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture (CF-EA) and are chosen to be an officially designated leader in this lineage. The community and close bonds created within the group and with me are enormous. Your development as a practitioner in this program follows the ancient tradition of the Master selecting apprentices who develop within the tradition with the Master’s direct guidance.” When JR invited his first group (MAP I) in 1997, he was adamant that it would be the one and only class. After a few years and numerous requests from practitioners, the class prevailed upon JR to take in a second group. Thus, in 2002, the second Master Apprentice Program (MAP II) was formed. Since the formation of MAP II, still more practitioners have expressed interest in joining in this rare and time-honored way of embodying the teachings. As JR’s designated successor as Master of this lineage, JB Worsley is thrilled to invite committed Classical Five-Element practitioners who wish more information about joining the MAP program to make their intentions known by contacting:
New participants will enter the MAP experience by joining MAP II and, in due course, will be invited to move into MAP I. As participants of MAP I are ready, they will be invited into the coaching team, assisting Judy in the presentation of the programs. MAP II meets twice a year in April/May and October/November. MAP I meets once per year in October/November. New participants are invited to join once per year, in the Spring session. The next Spring session will be towards the end of April, 2007 and will be held in Boulder, Colorado. We hope you will consider joining us for an exciting journey.
