The Lineage of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture

The intellectual framework of practicing Classical Five-Element Acupuncture is taught in several schools that have permission from JB Worsley to use the curriculum the Worsleys have developed based on the lineage teachings.

In addition to treating the causative factor, the distinguishing characteristic of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture is the ability of a fully trained practitioner to understand and treat the level within the patient where help is needed. This opens the door to the miraculous.

The prospects of learning this without the guidance of the master are so remote as to be out of the question. That is why Classical Five-Element Acupuncture has always been taught by master to student as a living tradition - a lineage. There is no other way to ensure that this wisdom is understood at a gut, feeling level by the student. They must then demonstrate to the master that they have it before they receive permission to teach.

The master is responsible for seeing, by the end of their lifetime, that at least one of their students has the ability to pass this on in its totality to the next generation. The Master must also let everyone know who has reached that level. It is the only way to ensure the next generation receives this wisdom.

Until his death, Professor J.R. Worsley was the acknowledged (by his teachers) living Master of this lineage in the west. He designated J.B. Worsley, J.D., D.Ac. (UK), as his successor and Master-Elect because of her level of embodiment.

They trained teachers and taught at those schools, which maintained a relationship of mutual trust and respect with them necessary for them to convey the experience of practicing this at its highest level.

The Worsleys have developed a series of texts to describe and illustrate the various aspects of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture, and a video archive of their work, which is being developed into a library available through the Institute to help future students develop their skills.

They have, in cooperation with the Worsley Institute, established standards for the “Practitioners List” based on participation in ongoing training with the Institute.

Finally, in cooperation with the Institute they have established trade mark protection for the phrase “Classical Five-Element Acupuncture” wrapped around the logo, which is used by those practitioners, teachers, and schools which meet the above standards.

This will make it possible for the public to distinguish which practitioners, teachers, and schools are actively participating in this lineage.
